"Giana Quake" is a new experiment of pure nostalgia, a remake of the classic platform game "Great Giana Sisters" (Rainbow Arts 1987). Basically, it's a Total Conversion of the popular 3D game "Quake" (ID Software 1996), set in the cute 2D world of Giana. The idea is not to make a sequel but to try out the (very powerful) Quake engine in a somewhat different environment while bringing an old favourite back to the screen where it belongs...Mostly for fun!!!
The difference between GQ and most other Quake TC's is its two-dimensional gameplay. The original 2D world of Giana is reconstructed in 3D and viewed through a chase-cam that hovers alongside Giana on her quest. This means the gameplay looks almost exactly the same as in the old CBM64 / Amiga versions, but the physics of the world (light, gravity, sound), as well as creatures and architecture feels very realistic. The camera also lives a life of it's own, so the game doesn't feel as stiff as sometimes the original...

òAn easy-to-use level editor for mapping out a Giana level without previous knowledge of Quake Editing.
òA Windows 95 based launcher. (optional)
òThe game will be played on time, like the original. (May seem very obvious but regular single player Quake never uses this.)
òOne or Two players (play as either Giana or her sister Maria)...

How to Install the Modification
-------------------------------
Extract the zipfile into your QUAKE directory. A new dir, called GIANA will be created, parallel to the ID1 dir.
To run the game, type "QUAKE -GAME GIANA +MAP STAGE01" from your QUAKE directory.

Giana Quake should be seen as a tribute to a beloved classic. Since this project is merely for fun, Giana Quake will be 100% freeware.
You may distribute this Quake modification in any electronic format as long as
all the files in this archive remain intact and unmodified and are distributed together.
